If anyone has friends and family coming for the holidays, check out this Snapchat survey of what the cool kids (i.e., 18-24 year olds) are into nowadays. Hopefully, you did not toss your old Monopoly and Uno games because they’re trending big time. Overall, if there’s a theme to this, it’s Retro-Contempo, i.e., old school fun with a contemporary twist.

18-24 year olds are taking a stroll down memory lane for some old-fashioned fun with board games like Monopoly. They also can’t get enough of jigsaw puzzles.

Rap collective Brockhampton is predicted to be the sound of 2020 (very emo I think). Meanwhile, the most nostalgic Snapchatters are getting into jazz.

Meme with Uno Reverse Card

Per Snapchat: “Oh, how the tables turn. In 2020, Snapchatters may double back to familiar sources for memes on comebacks and karma, like the Uno Reverse Card.”

I’ve never played Uno and I still can’t get my head around what exactly makes something a meme. But for those of you who do know the game, this meme reverse card mashup might be an interesting twist. Apparently it has been blowing up over the last year. EVERYONE is into it from 5th graders to NFL players. Uno has gotten heaps of praise for how they’ve managed to make this decades old game newly relevant with memes. Kudos to Mattel!

With flavors ranging from turkey and teriyaki to sriracha and salmon, jerky has the potential to become the snack of choice for Snapchatters in 2020. 

DIY hobbies to harmonize with your vibe

If Snapchatters are right, it’ll be a very old-school artsy holiday with lots of sewing, scrapbooking, pottery and woodworking,

2020 is also projected to be the year of the “vibe.” “Vibe check” is trending in slang. It means getting a read on someone’s mood. With trends like “vibez” and “whole vibe” building momentum, it’s all about “feelings” – again, so emo.

Bottom line

I LOVE games – this is inspiring me to host a game afternoon/night one weekend soon.

And also, btw, I decided to post a few days of fun, lighthearted stuff to get my own vibes back in order after the super stressful day I had yesterday when my laptop was acting all kinds of crazy. As you can imagine, when that happens and I’m in the midst of writing, it makes me extremely anxious.

Fortunately, I got an appointment at the Genius Bar and it turns out my battery needs replacing! They had to order one so my laptop will be funky for a few more days. But at least the problem was diagnosed! So, if my posts become a little random in the next week, it’s because my laptop has gone on the fritz.
