Have You Checked Out Silicon Valley’s Favorite Astrology App?

The Co-Star App is powered by NASA and generated using AI – which may be why I feel like I’m in way over my head! Anybody in my network using it?

The “mystical services market” as it’s called by Silicon Valley is valued at $2.1 billion.

  • It’s super-techie, very cool looking and a big hit with millennials.
  • The app has been downloaded more than three million times since it launched in late 2017.

Per the Co-Star website:

  • Powered by NASA data, Co–Star delivers personalized readings in real time. It starts by using the day, time, and place you were born to create an astronomical snapshot of the sky. This picture creates an in-depth personality analysis on character traits, behavioral tendencies, and emotional leanings: your astral chart.
  • This chart is mapped against the current locations of the planets, signs, and aspects to show what your chart means today: your horoscope.
  • Then it’s compared to the charts of your friends to reveal how you get along: your compatibility. Using artificial intelligence, Co–Star translates data into language you can read, understand, and share.

I love the app but am totally confused by it.

The chart it creates for you, based on your signs and houses, is spot-on. I have never seen a more perfect, insightful read on myself including what motivates me, quirks and traits, as well as how others might perceive me.

  • The daily updates, however, make no sense to me. They provide way too much information. Not only does it take forever to read, they seem repetitive. If anybody knows where to find a quick summary of the day, please let me know.
  • I also don’t get why it’s so tied to Facebook e.g. adding friends is free if they are on FB but if not, it will cost you $3 per person to add them – it’s also not clear if that’s a one-time fee or per month.

I just got an email from Co-Star – asking if I’d be open to meeting with them as they fine-tune the app. I hope they do indeed get in touch because I have questions and recommendations galore. One immediate bit of advice: dial it down and make it more user-friendly.

Bottom Line.

Big Zodiac has arrived!

I’ve always been astrology-curious (a fan but not a practitioner) but I’ve definitely noticed way more interest – by everybody – over the last five years.

Co-Star with its techie/NASA approach will undoubtedly bring entirely new audiences to the “mystical services.” How long before our sign becomes part of our professional bio?
