Wi-Fi In Our Brains? Don’t laugh. It’s Absolutely a Thing

Have you ever gotten a really strong gut feeling about somebody? I have.

Well guess what? We’re not crazy. It’s the “interbrain” at work which is the equivalent of having a wi-fi router installed in our brains.

New research from Digby Tantam, University of Sheffield psychotherapy professor describes it like this:

  • The “interbrain” is the direct connection between our brain and other people’s brains.
  • When our brains pick up “micro-signals,” we become aware of gut feelings about other people or situations.
  • According to Tantam’s research, communication between two human brains might be caused by an “inadvertent information leak” associated with the sense of smell, the most powerful of our senses.

Staying with the tech theme, READ ON BELOW for more on the power of social video.

THE POWER OF SOCIAL VIDEO

By 2020, all internet content will be in video format per Mark Zuckerberg

  • However, according to Cisco, video will make up 80% of consumer online traffic by 2020.
  • Whether “all” or 80%, we can all agree it’s a lot!!!

Why?

  • We process images 60,000 times faster than text.
  • 90% of the most shared content on social media was in video format in 2017.
  • Social video generates 1200% more shares than text and images combined.
  • Viewers retain 95% of a message via video versus only 10% via text.
  • More than 10 million people used Facebook Live to celebrate the New Year (up 47% from last year)

So why are so many of  us dragging our feet when it comes to video:

  •  Because you need at least two staff members with cameras or mobile devices to shoot effective video for social media. Ugh!!

Here’s are some Pro Tips (whether you’re DIYing or have a whole video crew):

  • Keep your videos short.
  • Grab the viewer’s attention in the first 3 seconds
  • Always add text overlays (expect audio to be muted).
